Question: “I just got a new job assisting a regional manager who’s more introverted than anyone I’ve ever worked with! She makes almost every request via email and shares almost nothing. I’m no extrovert myself, so I really have no idea how to go about getting to know her so we can work together better. Does anyone have any tips?”– Sam, Sales Assistant

Do you think your boss is an introvert? Here are 5 quick tips to help you in assisting an introvert.
Huddle Daily – The more often you have a one-on-one, the shorter they are. Touch base on your top priorities as well as theirs, each day. More information on what to discuss in your daily huddles in this video.
Build Trust – Do what you say you will do. This is a working relationship and the best way to build rapport with your boss is do what you say you will. Impress with your excellent administrative skills.
Protect Their Time Wisely – When being around a group of people or at lively social events is draining or unproductive for them, don’t put it on their schedule. Consider attending select events on their behalf, if appropriate.
Build Silent Time Into Their Calendar – Allow them to recharge after socializing for long periods of time.
Keep chit-chat to a minimum – You know their limits and parameters better than anyone else. Keep the “how was your weekend” chit-chat to a bare minimum and focus more on targeted conversations that will lend to relationship building over time.
