Dear Monday Motivators,
Last week’s Monday Motivators was the first of a series of 4 issues that I am writing around the theme Be BOLD: Mastering Exceptional Leadership One BOLD Step at a Time. Last week I talked about 5 Pillars of life where we need to take the lead: Career, Family, Financial, Spiritual and Wellness.
This week I would like to focus on the foundation of the 5 Pillars. While each pillar stands alone, there is a set of core attributes, traits and values that are the substance of all the pillars. The foundation is necessary to sustaining us in each pillar. They apply to each pillar. As you read the list, do a self-check.
Acceptance when something is not moving as fast as you want it to, such as getting a promotion or a new house.
Belief that you can accomplish your financial or wellness goals. Or the belief that you can have a loving family; that you are connected to the universe; that you can do something each day to improve your wellbeing.
Commitment being mentally committed to letting go of old habits and creating new behaviors. OTHERWISE IT’S JUST TALK!
Courage to face your fears and others.
Determination is defined as willpower, resolve, grit, purpose.
Gratitude is about being thankful every day in each pillar for at least one thing, such as the food on your table.
Hope in a better future. No matter how gloomy the economy may be or a situation you are facing, you always have to have hope. And you could be a part of creating a better future.
Positive Attitude is necessary in every pillar. Attitude is a choice.
Resilience is described as flexibility, elasticity, and bounciness. Like a palm tree in 50 mile-per-hour winds, you have to keep a strong foundation and yet bend with the situations in life.
Staying Power is like a runner in a marathon who might lose steam after running several miles but keeps pushing forward. Just when you feel like giving up, you have to give yourself the extra push.
Inner Circle you need the right people to support you in all 5 pillars of life.
Warrior willing to take up a sword for a cause – for something you believe in. Others may not agree with you but you know it is the right thing to do or promote.
I leave you with several nuggets to think about this week in the 5 Pillars of your life. While you may be focused on work, remember the other pillars are just as important.
Wishing you a great week.
