Tonight we gathered at the Cherry Nightclub Pool area at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa in beautiful sunny Las Vegas for the welcome reception kicking off Office Dynamic International’s 19th Annual Conference for Administrative Excellence.
The most complimentary expressions and words scarcely can describe the incredible event that took place. Administrative assistants and executive assistants, gathered from across the nation, were met at the entrance to the poolside bash by two Las Vegas show girls, who greeted and posed for photos.
Inside the amazing venue, upholstered sofas, settees and bamboo tables were available for the large group to gather at in clusters around the pool. There were alcove cabanas with stuffed chairs, cushions and pillows, which certainly took the travel weariness away!
Appetizers were passed by uniformed wait staff, so that every participant could relax and settle in to a great networking opportunity with peers. The buffet line hosted amazing assortments of exotic cheeses, meats and artisan rolls, fabulous figs, nuts, chips, and an entire huge wooden boat of fresh sushi, surrounded by flowers and garnish. Nuts, chips, marinated veggies and Mediterranean grilled veggies rounded things out. We feasted!
Meanwhile, the DJ got the place jumpin’ with techno music and great tunes, while even more show girls got the crowd enthused and into an impromptu Conga line! Their feathers and spangles, bling and towering high heels got the crowd up and jumping. We danced and danced while Jamaican drummers whistled, strutted and drummed their way through the thronging crowd.
The warm beaming sun began to set as people packed the bar and gathered in the covered cabana rooms surrounding the pool. As the palm trees swayed in the gentle breeze, the mood became more dramatic as the sun finally set, falling below the exotic red rock canyon with its beautiful formations.
The weather was so agreeable that people lingered, laughing, dancing, talking and getting to know each other better.
Joan Burge and her staff circulated through the crowd, ensuring everyone had an awesome time. The event rose to a climactic point when Joan stepped up to a pool side stage, took the microphone and welcomed everyone to the conference, saying there was much to anticipate over the coming two and a half days. “And we brought the Strip to you!” she proclaimed, as everyone cheered and applauded.
Following her welcome, a “Splash Mob” of dancers and actors jumped into the pool and performed a synchronized musical dance number in the water, which was well received by the participants and a great top off to the evening.
The crowd was slow to thin out as executive assistants and administrators enjoyed gathering at the bar, talking to new friends and old friends, and listening to the up tempo beat of the music. The dancers got people into the action, and we danced the night away.
I talked with many participants, and discovered that some were graduates of the Star Achievement program, and others had attended World Class Assistant workshops. Some administrators said they had found Office Dynamics International’s conference on the web, and some were repeat attendees, while still others had mentors or trainers who told them about how great the conference was and how it would help them grow their career in real, meaningful ways.
Office Dynamic International’s conference is consistently modern, maintaining ample opportunities for real administrative networking interactions in a fun-filled atmosphere that utilizes the highest level of technology and creativity to spark learning, career growth and life change.
This year’s conference kicked off with an electric event of great food, pulsating music and icy cold drinks, with professional entertainment plus plenty of networking. A contagiously enthusiastic, upbeat, positive fun event like this takes “welcome reception” out of the norm to an all-time high standard of excellence. (This wasn’t an old fashioned pass-the-pretzels ho-hum reception!)
The participants were treated like the stars they truly are. Best of all, Joan provides a venue where real teaching and applicable training takes place in a fun, social atmosphere that makes real learning and life change possible.
What will tomorrow bring? I can hardly wait!
