VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
Welcome to week 13, Time Management. To start, we have to realize that we don’t really manage time; the clock is going to keep ticking no matter what. However, what we can do is manage our task and projects to utilize our time to capacity. What I’d like you to remember today is that busy does not mean effective, productive or efficient. In other words, we can be busy on the wrong things, as you go through your day, make sure you’re doing work that makes a difference, adding value, or impact the bottom line.
Activity for the week: As you approach your work, ask yourself these questions:
- Does this really make a difference?
- Does this add value?
- Does this impact the bottom line?
In other words, GET OFF THE HAMSTER WHEEL!!! Take time to evaluate what is being done. Remember, robots need not apply! You’re not just a robot; you’re not just an order taker and a task doer. Use that wonderful brain of yours to analyze your projects and tasks, and then have the courage to say you your manager, I don’t see a reason to do this PowerPoint for the fifth time; I don’t see it making much of a difference. If you have the Become an Inner Circle Assistant book also do the activities on pages 230 and 231.
