Sometimes living a BIG life requires making hard choices and as I sit down to write you this week I am faced with one of those choices. You see, recently I have been challenged within my Wellness Pillar. During the course of the last 2 months I have had to deal with an illness and surgery that took me away from my work and it is only recently that I have been able to get back to my work and my passion, which is helping and inspiring others to be the best they can be. Little Choices Make Big Impact
Each Monday since January I’ve focused on the Year of BIG. We’ve talked about BIG Thoughts, Goals, Energy, Focus, Learning, Staying Power, and Change. The next four weeks our focus is on BIG Action. Every single day we’re faced with hundreds of choices, choices that are seemingly small and insignificant but have BIG impact on the outcome of our life. As the quote above from Abraham Lincoln reads, we’ll be as happy as we make up our minds to be, the responsibility is ours! Your long-term happiness isn’t determined by what others do. It is determined by what you do – are you making the effort? Earlier this year you likely set BIG Goals for yourself. Maybe you called them resolutions, dreams, intentions – whatever you called them, I’m sure you have them. You will meet those BIG goals you’ve set for yourself by hard work (sometimes a lot of hard work) and smart choices … and many of those choices will be little decisions over time that add up to BIG results. BIG Thoughts: Are You Living a Busy Life or a BIG Life?
Now there is a BIG thought! I hope that title got you thinking. We are very good at living busy lives. We all talk about our crazy schedules and busy weekends. We write our to-do lists and check things off our calendars. Parents run their kids from practice to practice and weekly soccer games; we run errands on the weekends; meet our friends for dinner or movies; attend football games, weddings, showers—run to our doctor appointments and more.
